When is a logo design, not a logo design?

A logo isn’t simply a pretty picture, it’s the customer’s first impression of your business.

That’s why it’s vital to represent who you are, and what you do, in a way that draws in a potential client’s eye! You don’t have to work for a creative agency to spot a great logo design, it’s easy when you know what to look for.

What kind of imagery should a bespoke logo design use?

For logo designs, custom and bespoke graphics tend to be the most common form of imagery used. You’ll often find them around the wording of a logo, but some of the most creative designs incorporate them into the wording itself.

Mark, Frankman’s Creative Director, used bespoke graphics to invoke an instant connection between the company, and their industry. Let’s look at the South West Plumbing logo as an example, their graphics are simple yet effective. They’re a small business based in Torquay, Devon and they specialise in three things, all of which are highlighted in their logo.

One benefit of using graphics in a logo, is how easily they can be used across the rest of a companies branding. Bespoke graphics can be a really flexible way of creating brilliant branding.

Stock or Bespoke Logo Graphics?

Stock graphics are pre-designed images / vectors from other designers on sites like this one linked here:

There are a lot of agencies that claim to offer cheap logo design deals for ‘custom made’ logos. They will quickly put together a few stock graphics and your company name and class it as a Logo Design. This can often mean that your logo may not match the desired image for your business. It is worth considering how important your brand image is to your company and your target audience / potential clients. A logo design should provide a good basis for your brand, and portray your business as you intend.

Bespoke Logo Graphics are unique designs that are made especially for a client. If you’re going to a high quality agency, a designer will work with your company to create a logo that matches your brief completely. The graphics should be creative and unique, so that they can be used by themselves and still associated with your company.
